The NYPD and parents of a Harlem boy left brain-damaged after a high-speed police chase into their car have agreed to a $70 million settlement.

The deal, which still needs court approval, would be one of the largest payouts in city history.

Niles Roberts, now 8, was left in a coma and suffered severe brain damage when the car he was riding in was struck by a police cruiser in June 2001.

The boy was riding in a livery cab driven by his father, Daniel Roberts. Police said officers were chasing a stolen car when it slammed into the cab.

Niles suffered massive head injuries and remains severely disabled. He cannot speak and requires constant care.

The lawsuit charged that the NYPD engaged in a dangerous high-speed pursuit through busy streets and failed to follow department guidelines governing chases.

The city denied wrongdoing but agreed to settle.

Niles’ attorneys said the settlement will help provide lifelong medical care and specialized treatment.

“This child will need assistance for the rest of his life,” said attorney David Jaroslawicz.

Police officials said officers involved believed the pursuit was justified at the time.

The settlement includes funds for medical expenses, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
